The intervention process was designed to encourage addicted individuals to seek professional help for themselves due to their addiction to something, such as drugs or alcohol. Those who love the addicted individual need to understand what role they need to take to ensure they are encouraging their loved one to learn to love himself or herself rather than being so dependent on everyone else and insecure. Because there are times when the addicted individuals get upset during the intervention process, it helps to have an interventionist there to guide everyone through the process while preventing things from getting off track and becoming toxic.
