Let’s end Opiate addiction and Fentanyl abuse with the help of Major League Baseball Star Jose Canseco at the BC Super Draft in April.
On April 2nd, 2016, there is going to be a unique alliance as baseball superstar Jose Canseco and international supermodel Leila Knight team up with the Andy Bhatti Intervention and Addiction Services and Options Addiction Treatment Center to help spread the word about Opiate addiction.
Over the past three years, Opiate addictions have risen by 200 percent in Calgary, Vancouver, and the rest of Canada. In fact, Canada is one of the world’s second largest per capita amount of opioid users and the dangers are becoming quite clear. Reports from 2009 to 2015 have shown that over 1000 Canadians have died as a result of taking fentanyl, which is a powdered opioid that is available through a prescription. This can be easily found on the streets as well as local drug labs. The dangers of fentanyl should be taken seriously as it is more powerful than heroin and morphine. Physicians use fentanyl for patients who are dealing with excessive pain after an accident or surgery.
Here Is What The Doctors Do Not Tell You
What many people do not realize is that opiates are simply are a pharmaceutical form of heroin. As you take these drugs for a week or so, your body begins to build up an immunity to the drug. Physicians usually do not tell patients how addictive these drugs can be nor how hard they are to come off from. One best ways to come off of strong opiates like fentanyl is to have a physician prescribe suboxone or methadone while under the close supervision of a treatment center.
Once your physician is informed of your addiction, they will typically remove you from the medication. However, this is when most patients resort to buying pills from street vendors. Quite simply, they have no other choice in the matter at this point. Typically, they resort to these methods as their way of just surviving from day to day. At this point, they have become addicted to the opiates and their bodies believe they need it or will shut down.
On April 2nd, our goal is to raise the awareness of this problem and let individuals and families know that there is help available from the Andy Bhatti Intervention and Addiction Services. It is best to give us a call today to book an intervention before things get worse.
Addiction is a disease that not only affects the individual but the entire family and community around them.
Fentanyl has become the most dangerous prescription in Canada that is killing people we know and love.
Think of it this way: an intervention is less expensive than a funeral.
You can find Jose Conseco playing slow-pitch and signing autographs on Saturday, April 2nd in Exhibition Park located at Abbotsford British Columbia. There are also going to be plenty of prizes available during the silent auction and chances to have your picture taken with Jose Canseco as well. This is going to be an incredible event that will help your friends, family, and neighbors across Canada
